PRIME TIME

I have to confess I am not a big primer lover or wearer. I can see why some people find it necessary, for example those with oily skin or those who want their makeup to last longer however, personally I have combination skin so I don't find priming a vital step in my makeup routine. My mac prep and prime fix + does the job. When I have parties or events to attend I like to prime my face to ensure my makeup stays in put all night long. However, this post involves the priming of the lids.

I, personally find priming your eyelids completely changes the way that eye makeup looks. The pigmentation and definition becomes so much more intense with the simple use of a primer. Whilst I don't use eye shadow on a day to day basis, I still think priming your eye lids is a vital step. Priming your eyelids removes any discolouration and veins on the lids leaving it a blank canvas for eye shadow and eye liner to stick to. I have never really discussed primers before so I thought why not make a post dedicated specifically to eye lid primers.

Mac really hit the spot when it comes to primers. I love the MAC paint pots. I have three in my collection. Painterly, is my favourite for everyday usage. This is a pink skin tone shade so is perfect for those who have fair, light or slightly tan skin tones. Soft Ochre is another paint pot I have from mac that is very similar in idea with Painterly, it is a skin toned colour again but is slightly yellow toned. The final paint pot I own is, Rubenesque. This paint pot is a warm, copper colour that looks amazing alone on the eyelids. It looks gorgeous with MAC's melon pigment all over the lids and then buck from the Urban Decay Naked Palette in the crease. The staying power of these are incredible, they do not crease or budge and they keep my eye shadow in tact practically all day.

I am very late to the party with the Urban Decay Primer Potion. I honestly do not know why it has taken me so long to purchase it. I know why people rave about this so much now. The formulation and staying power of this primer is amazing.

What are your current favourite primers?
