URBAN DECAY NAKED BASICS PALETTE

As a lover of urban decay, I am surprised it is only now that I have purchased the naked basics palette. As much as I love spending time thinking through my makeup, I think we all have those days where we need to do our makeup quickly with as little fuss as possible. I think it's appropriate to say I am very late on the bandwagon.

The packaging of this palette reminds me of the rubbery packaging that nars has. It is quite rubbery in texture however it does not get as dirty as nars products do which is a definite advantage! This palette is travel friendly due to it's sleek and compact nature and it also has a good sized mirror so it is perfect for touching up your makeup on the go!

Personally, I prefer matte shades which means the palette is perfect as 5 out of 6 shades are matte.

The first shade, Venus is a shimmery white shade which is perfect as a base for the eyelids, inner tearduct highlight and as a brow bone highlight. I love using this shade as a base and then using the shade naked 2 on the outer V of my eyes which is great for a natural, everyday makeup.

The second shade, foxy is a yellow toned  colour which again is perfect as a base on the lids.

The third shade, W.O.S is a pinky toned nude colour which is perfect for a light wash of colour all over the eyelids and then using a gel liner for a cat eye effect.

The fourth is the shade naked 2 which is a lovely matte pale brown shade is perfect for blending into the crease which provides definition.

The fifth (and my most favourite) shade is Faint which is a deep chocolate brown which can be used in a variety of ways. I like using this all over the eyelids and blending into the crease for a smokey, effortless look, however it looks great with Venus and foxy on the eyelids and then blending faint into the crease.

The final shade is crave. I personally do not think a palette is complete without a dark, matte black shade. This is perfect for creating and changing a day time look into a night time looks simply by applying crave into the crease for a deeper and smokier definition.

This palette retails for just £22 which I think is a bargain as you can recreate so many looks with this. I love using this on an everyday basis but especially when I'm going on holiday as it is small and dinky and does not take up too much room in a suitcase!
